Four Pregnant Ladies

That title should be sung to the tune of "12 Days of Christmas." =)
This past Tuesday the principal wanted to take a profile picture of the four of us at school who are pregnant. One is due in January, two in May and me in June. We stood in a line with the smallest belly in the front (me) and took a photo to go in our school newsletter. It was so much fun! As soon as I get my hands on that photo I'll put it on here. I would have scanned the newsletter but a copy of a copy is not as good! If you've seen the movie Multiplicity you know that's true.
Joel and I are in Baton Rouge for PawPaw's funeral. It is tomorrow at noon. I don't know yet how I'm going to feel at the service. I know that he is in Heaven dancing and singing and hearing the best music he's ever heard. You can't top that! Despite the circumstances, we are happy to be able to see family and our friends who are here.

Announced

I got to tell my choir kids about the pregnancy yesterday. They were so excited: "Do the teachers know? Can we tell people?" So cute. I told them, "This is a surprise for YOU because you are the first kids in the whole school to find out."

So today we had our choir dress rehearsal in front of the school and it went really well. The choir watched me like they were supposed to and remembered all their moves! We worked on sound a bit afterward and perfected it for this evening's performance for the families. My principal and I were debating last week on how to tell the kids that I'm pregnant since I teach every one of them. After the show I said a little thank you to them for being a good audience and Kathi asked for the mic and said, "Can we just do this right here and now?" I said, "Sure!" So she said something like you all know that Mrs. Sims is having a baby in January, Mrs. Tanner is having a baby in May and Mrs. Black is having a baby in May. Well guess what - there's someone else having a baby. (at this point I can hear the choir behind the curtain yelling "MRS. B!") She told the audience, "It's Mrs. B." and the kids were so excited. They are adorable.

Tubby

Well I bought something I've never bought before this weekend.....maternity pants! We needed to wear black pants for choir on Sunday and I knew that the pants I've had since H.S. would not be fitting. I tried the Gap thinking I'd just go up a size, but....they wouldn't hook! So, my honey and I went to Motherhood Maternity to look around. I was not feeling hopeful but they had dress pants in long. I tried on a Small and they fit! It was very exciting. They even had that little belly pad you can use to see how you're going to look later. Cute but I didn't try it. I just thought of Glee. They should have one for the rear end too! I think I will be going back for a few more pairs so I'll have something to wear to church and to work. I may even get some jeans. Fun times! I don't even care that I'm getting bigger. I can't wait to look very pregnant! It's going to be so much fun.

Relief

I finally got to tell the faculty at school yesterday afternoon about the pregnancy. We were going to wait because it was Lisa's diaper shower (another pregnant friend at school. =] )-- The last thing I wanted to do was steal her thunder! -- but Kathi and I talked about how it was getting kind of hard to keep it in. It was especially hard since I am starting to show a little. There's not much place for this baby to go but out! Even people in church choir had started to notice my phsyique! We were able to tell them on Monday at rehearsal.

Everyone has been so sweet and excited for us. Thank you all for your happy reactions. We are excited too! We even got our first baby gift! Michelle and Klint - our sweet friends in Baton Rouge - sent us this cute LSU t-shirt for the baby. So of course I had to go out and get some tiny hangers! =)

Sono #1 - 8.5 Weeks

We are very excited about our little Bourdier baby!

Our first sonogram was this past Friday and everything looked great! We even got to see that tiny little thumping heartbeat. We were both mezmerized and still can't get over it. It is such a miracle that a tiny baby the size of a green olive has a heartbeat! The doctor said the heartbeat was good and strong and that the chance of miscarriage at this point is 4%. That is good news! As of tomorrow I am 9 weeks along and the baby is 7 weeks old. "Pregnancy" is always 2 weeks longer than the age of the fetus.

Here is our little bun!

I'm eating ALL the time, but eating as healthy as I can. I haven't had much fast food at all. No burgers and fries. My new favorite food lately is kiwi. Love it! I feel like I've discovered it for the first time.

I know most of you don't use blogger, but I assure you that you can comment if you have a gmail account. I think you can comment without one as well. I'll ask around. =)We definitely want to hear from our long-distance friends and family. You are the reason this blog exists.
