Trent's Bedding!

Ok, so Joel and I went to Ikea today and we got fabric! I thought it was going to be so hard but then it all just clicked into place. We love it! Here are the fabrics we bought. One side of the bumper will be the b/w stripe and the other will be the leaf/orange print. The green is for the trim. =) And we will paint the walls a light grey. That orange lamp will be so cool in his room with all of this stuff! It's pictured in an earlier post with the little yellow duck I got for him.

Trent's Room

Now that we know we are having a little boy we can start planning his room! I decided a while back that I was going to make the bedding. It's just hard for me to find something bold that isn't animals or something. That's not really my style. I also don't like the baby blues and pastels. I looked around today and found some nice fabrics. In turn, I found a new website! warmbiscuit.com . Here are the fabrics I found on the site and a few others.

Vintage Transportation Map Fabric

Retro Robot Fabric - our little guy is way more likely to be into robots than sports. I would have to find a corresponding stripe or geometric print.

Small Owls Cream - SO CUTE!!!

Retro Geometric Floral - Could pass as trees. =)

This one is from Joann - I thought it would go perfectly with the last two fabrics.

Waverly Courtyard Leaf

This last one is IKEA. I love the orange and grey and green. It's like our livingroom! =)

It's a.....

BOY!
Yay! We are so excited about our little boy.
His name is Trent James Bourdier and we can't wait to meet him in July!
We were nervous at first because the tech said, "your baby is curled up in a ball." She promised us she wouldn't let us leave without knowing. So she looked at all his organs to check him over before returning to the special area!
By the end of the appointment we knew he was a boy and he had totally flipped the opposite direction! She said he is very active! Everything measured up great but they couldn't get a good look at his spine so we get another sonogram in 4 weeks! The tech told us that he is measuring a little big but not too big. I guess we will have a big boy on our hands!
Here are a few shots of him. He is so cute!
First are his cute little feet.
On the right side of this photo is his little face. =)
She took a 4D photo of him so we could see his little face better. Joel thinks he looks like me. We got a better look at his lips in the office and Joel says they curve on top like mine. =)
We will see!
Here is our little singing man! He had his mouth open and it was too cute!
He looks very happy to be our son. We are SO happy to be his mommy and daddy.
"We love you Trent James Bourdier!
We can't wait to hold you."
Love, Your mommy and daddy

Baby's First Quilt

Two of my students moved away a few months ago - a brother in 5th and a sister in 1st. Apparently when I told them I was expecting the little girl asked her grandmother to make me a baby quilt. They came to vist a few weeks ago and brought it by the school for me. It was the sweetest thing. =) I love it! Here it is:
At TMEA Joel and I were out to lunch with Klint and Michelle and several of their LSU friends. Joel and Klint went over to the crane machine to see if they could win a stuffed animal and Klint was successful! How often does that happen? Not Klint being successful, but the crane machine giving you a toy! haha Anyway, he brought it back to the table and handed it to Michelle and she said they should give it to me for the baby. She thought it was a sign that it was blue. =)
We will see tomorrow!!!!!!

Something for Baby

I found this cute little wooden duck at Frisco Resale a few weeks ago. I thought he would look super cute in baby's room.

18 Weeks

TaDa! Here I am at 18 weeks! I am in my 18th week and baby is currently the size of a sweet potato - 5.5 inches long, crown to rump. We find out who baby is in 3.5 days!!!
I got some very good baby loving yesterday from my sweet little second grade girls. 4 or 5 of them were huddled around me rubbing my belly. It was so cute. And one of them has only been here for a few weeks! =) I have the sweetest students.
There's a lot of talk about belly boundaries but my only rule is that I know who you are and like you. haha If you are a stranger stay away!
Baby and I get to go to a CAbi party tonight. I think it will be fun! I hope I can afford a cute top. I've been assured that some of their flowy tops would fit me right now and still look great when I'm not pregnant. We shall see!

17 Weeks

Ok this is really late, but here I am at 17 Weeks. Baby was the size of a turnip so I bought some turnips for the photo with every intention of cooking them. (Oh if it looks funny in the picture, it's because we had to put two together...the turnips at Sprouts were pretty small.) Last night I made yummy orange rosemary chicken and roasted vegetables. It TURNS out that we love TURNips!

Recipes and photo below.

Orange Rosemary Chicken

1 pack fresh chicken tenders
orange juice
black pepper
salt
rosemary
olive oil

Cut the chicken into bite size pieces and marinate in OJand seasonings. (Enough OJ to cover the meat and season to your liking). Cook in a hot skillet with olive oil until cooked through. Cooking time: about 15 minutes

Roasted Vegetables
2 small turnips
4 red potatoes (or any kind you like...sweet would be delicious!)
carrots
1/2 med onion
olive oil
season salt
pepper
garlic powder
parsley

Dice vegetables into small pieces (to cook faster). Toss into a roasting pan lined with foil and drizzle with olive oil. Season to your liking. Bake at 450 for 40 minutes stirring once in the middle to ensure even cooking.

4 Pregnant Teachers

I finally scanned in the photo of the four of us that were pregnant at one time. It was in our school newsletter. Sorry about the quality! Wow, we are all so much bigger now! Except for Lisa on the right, of course. She had her precious girl already.

Popchips

I have recently discovered these delicious chips and I'm officially addicted. I was at Sprouts getting some awesome produce and meat....well the celery wasn't all that great but everything else was.....and I wanted to get some lunch food. I got some delicious lunch meat and cheese and then strolled over to peek at the chips. Normally I would NOT buy packaged foods at Sprouts because they are very expensive. Well, there's a reason they are so expensive, they are better for you! Isn't that usually how it goes? Yes. I found these Popchips and decided to give them a try. I got the sour cream and onion because that's my FAVE chip flavor!

So basically these chips are not baked or fried... they are popped. They apply heat and pressure until the potatoe pops. I'm not sure how that works, but I know it's delicious. I have eaten the entire bag already and I got them on Monday. Granted, the bag really isn't that big or full.
I got a bag of Salt and Pepper for Joel....I wonder if he likes them. =)

What will baby look like?

Joel and I can't help but wonder what our baby will look like. We have been talking about it a lot lately. We have come to the conclusion that we have NO idea what this baby will look like! The possibilities are endless. We are hoping that our sonogram will give us a little peek at the profile or something to tip us off. But I know the baby will change a ton in the first few months.

Here is a look at the resemblances on the Bourdier and Honeycutt side. I think Joel is a very good mix of his parents, but his younger photos are identical to his mom's younger photos. We will start with more current photos.
Here is Joel with his mom in 2008. Definitely some similarities! I see it in the mouth and eyes.
Here is Joel with his mom and dad a few years ago. He definitely has characteristics of both of his parents.

Here is Joel with big brother James...obviously James' H.S. graduation. If our little one looks anything like this little guy I will be pleased. SO CUTE! I think this photo shows how little he looks like James. To me, James is all Bourdier.

Here is a side-by-side of Joel and Joyce at young ages. The grins are IDENTICAL! =)

Here is the entire Bourdier clan with tiny Joel in momma's arms. I love his hilarious expression because the sun is in his face. I think James (the oldest-back row) looks just like dad and the others look just like mom. Especially his coloring.

What do you make of all this?

An analysis of the Trent and Haley side is coming soon! =)

15 Weeks

Here is a photo of me at 15 Weeks. Baby was the size of a large avocado: 4in.
Well I'm full swing into the 2nd trimester and I have read that I will be more hungry than ever! I'm going to have to stock up on healthy snacks to keep at school. I have string cheese, crackers, V8, Laughing Cow swiss cheese, pretzels, raisins...I need to keep a big thing of carrots in my mini fridge. Love carrots and I know baby will too!
Last night I did a little experiment with guacamole. You may remember me having a bad stomach reaction to avocados last month. Well I ate a little bit of guacamole and my stomach never hurt! I think maybe I was just overdoing it a little. I'll have to ask my dr. about that.
I've started keeping a note in my phone of things to ask the dr. because if I don't do that I will forget! I always feel so silly when she asks if I have any questions and I just stare blankly.
We name baby 2 weeks from tomorrow!!!

15 Week Appointment

Joel and I went to the doctor today and it was awesome! We found out that we only have to wait 3 more weeks to name baby! That's right, we will know the gender in 3 short weeks! In the mean time, we have TMEA in San Antonio so time is going to FLY by.
I have gained 5 pounds since my last visit. That makes 8 pounds total. My belly is definitely sticking out. This week it seems to have really popped out there.
We also got to hear baby's heartbeat and yes there is still just one. =) It was so awesome and I could have listened to it forever. It's a good thing Joel recorded it on his phone. Now we CAN listen to it forever. The Dr. had a hard time finding baby's heartbeat because he/she was moving so much! I can't feel the movement yet but she says I should be able to in about 5 or so more weeks.
Everything seems to be going just perfectly. =) I can't wait until the Dr. can get a look at baby's organs to make sure they are functioning properly. Annnnndd we will see the little gender parts as well. =)
